The last of three par 5s on the gents card (there are five for ladies), the 12th is probably the simplest of the three and thus represents the most realistic birdie opportunity. The hole looks inviting from the tee and the fairway is fairly generous but beware the green. If your approach shot ends up above the hole then two putts is a good return.

Pro's Tip

"The strategic tee shot is to hug the left hand side and let the slope move the ball back into the centre of the fairway. A good drive makes it possible to reach in two for the longer hitters but beware a severely sloping green where only the most accurate approach yealds a birdie."

"Apart from the weather (a minor consideration despite the incessant rain which gradually increased towards the end of the round) this was a great day. The course was fantastic and the greens were in great condition despite the rain. The Secretary and all the staff were very accommodating to the point that coffee and biscuits were delivered to the changing room after the round – a welcome sight to 15 bedraggled golfers. The meal and setting was one of the best we have enjoyed and it was unanimously agreed to come again in the summer when good weather could be anticipated!”
